Any insightful Bushies, feel free to comment

I got a D- on my last progress report from my fantastically gorgeous Government teacher. The funny thing about homework is that they seem to actually expect you to do it, which does not bode well for lazy smartasses such as myself. Apparently the 5-minute scribbles I managed to jot down and turn in approximately 20% of the time just didn't cut it for that Always-Participates Brilliant-Student Pleasure-to-Have A+++ (smiley face sticker).

So I basically demanded extra credit work, and he basically laughed at me and said "no." At which point I begged.

Anyway, long story short: he's an asshat, I'm a liberal, and I've now got to write a 5-pager on why I want to be a conservative. Yippee.

  • Be careful when Fab offers to "whack" someone. You never know what he means about that.

  • I know what you mean, even if I don't live in America. Here in Mexico, sometimes things can be similar.

Thanks for your comment on my blog and for sharing your story with me. It made me think about my life and believe that there's always hope.

By the way, I voted for you in the battle of the blogs. =)

  • And who could possibly guarantee that homework would've helped?

  • I bet you could weave a brilliant satire out of that assignment. Good luck, and post it when you're finished!

P.S. Kittencult is a great name for a blog. Who wouldn't want to be in a kitten cult?

  • Oh, the satire is already in the works. Be assured, I'll share.

  • Let me start by disclaiming that I'm currently a Social Studies teacher.

Back in my senior year of high school (1999), I had a government teacher that I couldn't stand. During class he would blatantly tell us as a matter of fact that liberals were wrong on everything. Taxes - we want a tax on everything. Interventionism - we want to "police" every country in the world (ha, remember, this was before Bush took over the world, er, I mean country). Sex - well, god knows liberals are sex-crazy pervs... and we're all gay. Immigration - well, liberals aren't for killing immigrants before they slide into our country taking our high paying jobs like "nanny", "field picker", and "under-the-table construction worker."

Long story short... I couldn't stand him. I'm not the nicest about letting kids make up missing work after long periods of time, but I'm sure you'd find me fair and open to alternative points of view even if I disagreed with you with all of my breath.

My advice to you is to do what I did. Do the assignments with a sense of sarcasm. Pretend to agree with him while in your papers blatantly showing how hypocrital his views are. And so forth... Have fun at his expense. It is more fun and challenging that way... and not quite as boring.

  • Being a Republican does not make you a "Bushie". In fact, Bush has become so lefty these days with his uncontrolled spending, and movement toward big government, he hardly represents what we Republcains want from a candidate.

Add to it the fact that Bush panders to the illegal aliens and repeats the same 4 sentences every speech, he's actually quite a dissapointment. Though, I'm sure he's a nice guy.

Try actually learning about the Republican party, rather than parroting the same talking points Dean and Pelosi verbally vomit on a daily basis. You'll find we aren't all that bad. In fact some of us hug tree's too.

  • I actually tend to avoid the political blogging thing as a whole, if for no other reason than to avoid arguments feigning discussion but ultimately being about nothing but political correctness. Or bitch-slapping liberals. Or something.

In any case, I would argue that Bush is most certainly not a liberal, though the polarized far-right seems to have outgrown his positions.

As for me, I can't say I hug trees - but I don't see them as big, leafy dollar signs just waiting to be exploited for profit, either. Or hiding places for those darned invader Messicans. I guess that makes me a moderate, or "pussy" in neocon-speak.

I don't really think you want to talk things out all nice-like, but then maybe I'm just getting that from your "Where Liberals Go To Die" avatar. :)

  • Well you could say cause you have a lot of money and want to keep it.

  • Jenn of the Jungle, it's trees, not tree's. I guess another child got left behind.

  • How about, "I want to be a conservative because they are always happy and I am always pissed off."
